He could remove the belt and start it for a short time. If the squealing is gone, then he knows for sure that it is something being spun by the belt... Alternator, power steering pump, or even the belt itself. I wouldnt suggest doing that very long, being as the water pump and cooling fan wont be spinning, but it would quickly eliminate about half a dozen possibilities.
Ok, piston to cyld wall clearance, main bearings, rod bearings. To me this reads as a piston to cyld wall clearance problem, which means total tear-down so they can be checked. Take the truck back to the person you bought it from and get this straightened out, IE get your money back.
