Default super slow to heat

How fast is your heater heats up the cab? mine takes forever, I get to work before I can feel some good heat coming out the vents. New heater core and water pump last summer, coolant system flushed, AC system is empty and I don't remember if I replaced the thermostat since I did a lot of work on the truck last summer.

Any idea or trick? different thermostat, a piece of cardboard in front of the rad maybe? lol

Thanks

How long does it take to get to operating temp? Are both hoses to the heater core warm?

I had a similar situation, replaced the t-stat and all was well.

How long? way too long and I will have to check the hose next time. I will double check if I replaced the thermostat or not.

Ok I will edit that.

Just went for a 15 minutes drive, heat is only luke warm and so are the heater hoses. It's only 12 F here and the temp gauge stayed at 55 all the way. It's a canadian truck so I am assuming that this in degree C so it would be 130F for most of you guys.

How about the temp sensors? would they play a role in this? I think I am going to go get another thermostat later today.

You only have one temp sensor on your truck, pcm suggests to the cluster what to display. I suspect your thermostat is stuck open.

Not the thermostat, I just boiled it and it opens fine. It was almost new. I remembered that the coolant temp sensor was crack or loose and that I gooped it with RTV.

Any suggestion?

replace the sensor if it is cracked

if you are getting even a little heat the temp gauge should be the line after 55 so about 60-65 i am in canada so i know the feeling when it wont get hot in the cold we have up here
