You pick up a bit of power with e-fans, might get a touch better gas mileage.... sure cleans up the engine compartment though...... I would have a real hard time justifying one of those 500+ dollar bolt on fellers..... but, doing the home brew thing, with good fans, and intelligent wiring, yeah, I like that idea.

There are a BUNCH of threads about just this topic, search 'em out, lots of good reading material/options for you.

Fat power wire from batt post on PDC, to relay terminal. Fat wire from other terminal on relay to fan, fat wire from fan to ground.

Switched power wire to relay control circuit input, (so it doesn't run with the key off) wire from ground terminal of relay to temp switch, (they make cool adapaters to screw the switch into, I think some diesel site has them.) wire from either the temp switch, or, from the housing it screws in to, to ground. Quick and easy, and basically fool proof. No expensive control box to go bad. You could even install a second circuit so that the relay grounds when the a/c is on as well.

wiring is easy once you understand it. you can get electric fan relay kits that come with pretty much everything you need to wire up an electric fan and they are fairly cheap.

too bad the rads on the newer trucks are so small. i am pretty happy with how well my caravan dual electric fans work and they look like it came from the factory with them. you could maybe get the jeep recall fan part # CBG4F250. i have heard they work good and can be made fit in the stock shroud.

HeyYou is right about the HS 1.7 rockers= bang for the buck. That was the first thing I did to my stock 5.9 after reading about them here, very noticeable difference....then things snowballed from there....;-)

That picture looks familiar Wolfie

OP heres a complete description of my extremely effective $100 4000+ cfm e-fan setup. Part number included. best prices for OEM parts at www.wermopar.com in my experience.

19" Jeep fan - Part Number CBG4F250
Mounted with zipties in the stock shroud.

And this wiring kit: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HDA-3647/

I wish that I could separately adjust the shutoff temperature, as I don't want the truck to run over 200 degrees, but in the heat of Louisiana, with a 192 stat and my redneck shroud setup, the fan never shuts off once it turns on. I will do something different with the wiring someday, but in the meantime I have had no issues with it.
