Battery voltage was at 50??? That ain't right....

Stick your finger on the relay, have someone turn the key, should be able to feel it click.

 

The starter relay clicks once when you try to turn it over. But doesn't continue to click if you hold the ignition down. The battery is at 12v and the yellow ignition wire is at 12v. I was reading the voltmeter wrong.

 

I had the multimeter set to 250 instead of 50. So I was reading the 50 ticks and not the 250. I fixed my mistake and they are both at 12v now that I am reading it correctly

 

I just checked the starter relay again with the multimeter. The number 30 hole read 7-8volts. None of the other holes read any power. So the 85 brown wire that goes to the solenoid didn't read anything. Does that mean that the circuit isn't being completed if no power is going there?

 

Can you post a photo of the voltmeter so we can see waht you are refering to in "number 30 hole read 7-8volts?" My electrical eng experience is not helping me understand this. Need the visual.

 

I don't know how to post pictures. And the number 30 on the relay. When you turn it over and look at the numbers. 85 and 87 and 30 and a few others. The number 30 is the only one receive power. Whether the ignition is on or off.

 

Pin 30 should have 12 volts. Make sure you have power at fuse 9 in the fuse block on the side of the dash.

Anything else in the truck not work??

 

30 only has 8 volts. And #9 fuse I don't seem to get anything. But I think it's because I can't get the prongs all the way in. And as far as I know. Electrical this is the only problem

 

Fuse 9 also runs the fuel pump.....

Pull the fuse, and probe the fuse block terminals directly. Get a good voltage reading. 8 volts isn't enough to pull the starter solenoid..... it should still at least click though.

 

On fuse 9. The bottom terminal is getting 11.5 volts and the top terminal is getting about 3.5. And the starter relay clicks. But only as soon as the key is turned over. There is no continuous click... Is there suppose to be?
