The truck has 92k on it. I will be getting a tune-up on it this weekend and will change the air filter too. What kind of gears do you recommend? I do not tow and most like will not.
Plenum, cap, rotor, wires, plugs, pre cat 02, a good air filter and the correct tire size/ pressure are about the only things already listed that I know will help, about the only other thing I know of is a electric radiator fan.
Get a throttle body spacer.. better yet get 2 of them... That will gain about 5mpg...
After that make sure it is in tip top shape.. Complete tuneup.. Plugs, wires, cap and rotor.. Fix the plenum. Do the timing chain.. Do e-fans.. If you are running stock size tires dont worry about gears.. Maybe even get an SCT tuner.. Install an air/fuel gauge and learn how to use it.. That will get you the best MPG you will get out of these trucks.
Well I personally run 4 throttle body spacers... And I have been on the same 9 gallons of gas for the last 5 months... SO am I joking or is this some type of sick joke??
tje tires are 285/75/16 and they came from the guy i bought it from like that. i would love suggestions on new tires too. lol
I like that size. Any idea what gears you have in there at the moment? You can get a build sheet from chrysler, link in DIY section, or, should be on a plate/tag somewhere on the truck as well..... (glovebox? under the hood? on the rear diff?)
Those are basically 33" tires. 4.10's work rather well with those. (close to stock RPM/MPH relationship) Gears aren't cheap, but, neither are tires. Probably came with 245/75/16's from the factory.
