exhaust question

exhaust question
i have the 1997 1500 4x4 with the 5.2, right now i have the pipes cut off right before the muffler was so all im running is the cat and the straight pipe, my question it will it be ok to run my truck like that till i can get something else to replace it and if so whats the best exhaust to go with? id like to get 5inch tips dueled out in the back
