have you removed spark plugs to relieve compression?

also put 1-1/4 socket on the bottom engine pulley and see if you can get the ratchet pointed down under the truck so you can pull on it while you are under it.

Should be able to reach around the plate where the starter goes in, to turn the tc. it shouldn't move that hard...... should be able to turn it with a couple fingers. (once all the bolts are out....) might wanna pull the rest of the plugs.

That would be nice.... but, I wouldn't hold my breath. (alignment marks of some description.)

With all the bolts out, it's easier to turn the TC.

Hopefully, the TC was replaced when tranny was rebuilt so factory mark is of no value. I forgot to mention to remove spark plugs to allow crank to turn. Sometimes I assume someone knows what I am thinking (even though sometimes I don't know what I am thinking...) Glad dhvaughn and HeyYou thought of it.

The main thing is to get the TC and plate aligned so all four bolts fit....tightly. Make sure that if you have to get another bolt, do not get one too long.

I use lockite on those bolts.

Have you downloaded the service manual here in DF in the FAQ/DIY section. Good to have on hand.

Turn the engine in the same direction it normally spins. (can't recall just off hand what direction that is...) Balancer is bolted to the crank, as is the flex plate, plate will turn the same direction that the balancer does. It doesn't have a choice.
