There's great debate over those bolts. Some reuse without any issues, you can get a new set from the dealer for around $16. Cheap insurance.

 

you should have ordered a ntk. these truck don't really like Bosch o2 sensors.

I'd just get them from a dealer (so you know you're getting the right bolts) or reuse the old.

 

5/16-18 X 2 1/2" long. I used SS bolts with washers, but grade 5 will work just fine. I don't buy into the hype with the supposed TTY bolts on there. But I'm new here so I'm not trying to rock the boat...

I can't find ANYTHING in the factory service manual that suggests they need to be replaced either..... I put new ones in mine anyway..... (considering two broke when I tried to remove them, I suppose it is just as well.)

 

i removed every single intake bolt out of a intake at the junk yard without snapping a single bolt. all of them came out almost too easy.

 

You got lucky.

 

i know. they even had the drivers side fender off, axle out and it was sitting on the ground so removing the intake was a fairly easy job.

 

These bolts are not TTY. They are not hardened (part of the TTY process) and they are threaded the entire length (not possible with TTY) bolts). But I cahnged mine, purchased from dealer. They were not that expesnive, and I broke one off. Better safe than sorry, I also used anti sieze on the new one going back in...just in case I had to go back into it.


If they were TTY, it would be specified in the manual.... ....one would think.
