Last Performance Mods: Cam, Rockers, Lifters, etc.
So to top off everything, I am going to replace the timing chain, cam, lifters, rockers, and PCM, and valve springs.
Here's what I am looking at doing:
- Cam: RV cam. Don't know the specs yet, waiting for my parts guy to get back to me, but it's supposed to boost power in the lower end pretty well.
- Timing chain: Double roller.
- Lifters: High performance lifters from hughes
http://www.hughesengines.com/Index/p...=&partid=26611
- Rockers: Don't know for sure yet, thinking on getting the HS 1.7 non-adjustable rockers. They mentioned having to adjust pushrod length, maybe someone could explain why?
- PCM: Mopar performance PCM, unless I can find a good tuner for the early 1996 PCMs.
- Valve springs: With the new cams, I read that I should get better springs. I want to get better ones whether they are needed or not for the cams. What would you suggest for springs?
So if the experts can look this over for any things I have missed I would appreciate it. Or if you have any suggestions to complement this I'd appreciate it.

Lifters. Cheaper than hughes, Mopar performance parts.
Don't go 1.7s on your rockers when replacing the cam...... stick with stock ratio. Fewer problems that way. (just get a cam that has the lift/duration you want to end up with.)
SCT Tuner from Hemifever will do the 96 PCM I do believe. Might require a custom tune though.... talk to Hemifever, and see what he has to say.
replace your heads. Stockers suck. (yep, that's a technical description.) Another member got some really nice ones that are better than stock, with better valve springs, for under a grand. Get valve springs that match your cam. (decide what cam you want, get the right springs for the cam.)

I've already replaced the heads with some special HD heads from Odessa that aren't available anymore. Basically they have larger intake and exhaust ports than the factory heads, have hardened valves, heavier castings than factory (to prevent cracking). So they allow better flow. They have stock HD springs IIRC., but I'll replace springs on it just to be safe. Anyone tried replacing valve springs while heads are still on the engine? I've heard that their's a air adapter to fit into the spark plug hole to hold the valves up.

It's alright. Happens. lol
HS has two different versions: adjustable, and non-adjustable.
Both are pretty much bolt-on, but the non-adjustable are SOOOO much more bolt-on friendly.
No, I do not have them.
