Default Best E-fan Kit.

OK, so i did a search and there are so many threads about e-fans. But most are about the pros and cons. I think there should be a sticky about it. like the plenum one, but im not an admin, so... ANYWAY, my questions are, What is stock CFM? What is the best kit for the money? and, what all should you buy if you were peiceing together your own kit? Thanks

Visit the nmerous threads. Best kit for the money? Depends on how much you can afford to spend.

TCP if you want a kit, but others have put together theirs form numerous sources for a lot less money. Takes a little more time to round it all up, but saves money. Look for around 2700 cfm minimum.

Junkyard early 90's Taurus 2-speed fan ($15) with late 90's junkyard Volvo 2 speed fan relay ($3) with an adjustable T-stat fan controller from Summit or similar (~$30) would be cheap and push some serious air.

i would not go with ford fans. they draw so much power i think they would make the alternator work harder when they are on and that would defeat the purpose of having them. i think i would rather stick to high pulling low amperage mopar parts.

19" Jeep fan - Part Number CBG4F250
Mounted with zipties in the stock shroud.

And this wiring kit: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HDA-3647/

I wish that I could separately adjust the shutoff temperature, as I don't want the truck to run over 200 degrees, but in the heat of Louisiana, with a 192 stat and my redneck shroud setup, the fan never shuts off once it turns on. I will do something different with the wiring someday, but in the meantime I have had no issues with it.
i think this is the best idea

And pull so many amps that you can't fuse the thing, which is dangerous. Some have been documented pulling 100+ amps at startup. Most can be less, but not much, and still too much to put a fuse on.

When I had my 2001 Ram, I used a TCP shroud with two FF Dynamics (FFD) 16" fans. Each put out 3000 CFM and only used 10-ish amps when super cold, 8A in the summer. Its not the cheapest route, but definitely better and safer. Thats 6000 CFM that can be fused with one little 25A fuse. That worked fantastically until I traded it in. The TCP kit complete with fans/controller is good as well. Best does not equal cheap, unfortunately.

I love the TCP set up and their shrod replacement. Makes lots of room in engine bay and overall clean looking setup. But cheap is is not. WOrks well and controller starts fan up slow to eliminate inrush current spike. Varies fan speed based on cooling needs.
