Standard was the NV231 (same as in half-ton trucks), 242 (full-time t-case) was optional. Either should work just fine.

there is a number on that transfercase, its actually in the picture I uploaded. 332af, right behind a barcode. Does that mean anything? I tried looking it up, and nothing...

The tcase in the Rango's is supposedly weaker than the already blowup-able tcases in the Rams...

What pic? Not seein' it. (maybe I am just missing it.)

There is a round tag on the back side of the t-case, that will tell you what model it is.

231's in the 'rangos were the same ones put in the fullsize trucks, and dakotas.

Ok sorry for redundent, but just to clarify one last time before I buy this stuff.

I would be totally good to buy this 5.9L, transmission and transfer case out of a 99 durango, to put down in my 99 1500 that came with a 5.2L. Everything will go right together and hook up just the same. All I will have to do is talk to hemifever and order a programed sct tuner to get the pcm to work with the bigger motor??

OK...here is redundant.....other than possibly a near uselss transfer case on the Durango, yes, the rest will work. Is the transfer case on your Ram still good? If so, no worries as you can use it.

Oh.

Coulda sworn somebody said tcase in the rango's was weaker, in was in the durango tcase swap thread a while back.

Maybe I'm thinking of a different model tcase..

The awd one as HeyYou referenced is what you are thinking about. But OP has not posted what the one has that he is buying. But if his is good, then no problem as he can trhrow it on if the Rango has the weaker one.

And why aren't you outside slapping that grill gaurd on?
