For the op's intended use and cost effectiveness, I am going to jump on the "add-a-leaf" bandwagon. Either that or go to a junk yard and buy a set of 3/4 or 1 ton springs from a similar truck to yours. They dont usually wear out, without excessive usage, and they will bolt right up. Odds are, you need new spring bushings anyway.
He will need to find a set of 3/4 ton springs out of a 94-95 2500, the newer trucks have 3" wide spring that will NOT bolt right in. 1/2 T springs are only 2.5" wide. Go for a set of Air bags for the back they don't mess with the ride.

^^ My '95 2500 has 3" wide leafs. Are you talking about the light duty 2500's?

All 1st gens have 2.5" wide leafs including the 3/4 and 1 tons if you wanna explore that option.

^^^ Could be man, all I know is the last pos 94 2500 I looked at had 2.5 wide rear springs in it.
