It shifts like this:
1-2= 2500k and 20-22mph
2-3=3200k and 30-35mph
overdrive kicks in at 40-45 mph and when accelerated hard kicks down and tach bounces at redline.

I checked my fluid again and it has a faint tint of brown to it and a tiny burnt smell. I am going to change it tomorrow but how does all this sound?

Sounds like your shift points are too high....

And not going back into OD until you let off throttle is normal. This is part of the TV function.

Yeah, sounds like TV still needs some fine tuning.

So this means I need to push the tv cable further towards the front of the truck correct?

Yes. I think. Just go one 'click' at a time. Test it, see what you think. If it needs more, go another. Etc.

Ok guys another day, another update. I adjusted the tv cable more by pushing it 3 clicks in. My tranny shift out of first and into 2 at 14mph. It does not whine nearly as much as it did.

I went ahead and changed the fluid and filter and there were no chunks in the pan. There was some soft metal dust on the magnet but I assume thats normal. The top of the old filter had metal dust on it too. I added 4 quarts of coastal synthetic atf+4 fluid along with lucas tranny additive.

After the change was done I cycled my gears like the haynes manual said but when I took it for a drive it kept jumping in and out of gear on me. At one point I thought I was going to have to get it towed but I put it in park and then back into drive and it took off again, slipping intermitantly. I checked the fluid level and it looked pretty good. Did i mess something up?
