Before you do that, go to FAQ/DIY section here and download the service manual. Read over the transmission section very closely. Long read, but lots of info. It may help you figure it out and save money. I suspect the throttle valve is coming into play when it should not be.

Default Tranny Whine

My TV cable was disconnected and I hooked it back up and played with it until I got it to shift right. Now with the cable hooked up when I revv in park or when i give heavy throttle my tranny makes a loud whining noise.

I just bought the truck 2 months ago and I have no idea how long the cable was disconnected for. I checked the fluid and it is still red and does not smell burnt. If i disconnect the TV cable and revv it or drive it and give heavy throttle there is no whine. If i drive with light throttle pressure there is no whine. Any ideas?

BTW it is a 5.9 v8 and a jasper tranny installed oct. 2008, I verified this with Jasper through the production number. Its automatic.

It's an ongoing issue that has been referred to in your other thread. Just go with the flow. Besides, there are hundreds of threads dealing with the TV cable and whining transmissions.

And in case it was missed, here is how to set the TV cable to OEM adjustment https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...-in-trans.html

And here is a DIY if you want to play with it after. http://www.bionicdodge.com/Download/...Adjustment.pdf

Possible the whine is just fluid going thru a slightly dirty passage, that opens further when the TV cable isn't connected.

OK, i can live with the whining but now right before it shifts it gets pretty loud then it shifts but its a hard shift. When I am in overdrive and I floor it it feels almost like it kicks me down to second, it may be third, but either way the tach just bounces off the redline and wont kick back up to overdrive unless i let off the accelerator pedal.

It shifts like this:
1-2= 2500k and 20-22mph
2-3=3200k and 30-35mph
overdrive kicks in at 40-45 mph and when accelerated hard kicks down and tach bounces at redline.

I checked my fluid again and it has a faint tint of brown to it and a tiny burnt smell. I am going to change it tomorrow but how does all this sound?
