ok so i went over everything again made front band ajust a bit more and topped off fluid perfectly. trans is takin off in third!!! and when i get to 40 45 she got plenty of power, reverse is great. i disconencted the 8 pin connector and drove it with no difference. could there be somethin im not seing here. like i said truck has aftermarket cooler all hacked in and there are wire connectors all over, could there be a short somewhere throwing it off, where to check? also when i jumped under truck after just running it it sounded like the tourqe converter was draining back. could it be the o2? theres only 2 upstream ones on this truck. whats else is on gov sensor circut? thanks for responses guys!!

also to throw in the wiring the previous owner(s) did with extras is all crappy connectors. the aux trans fan dont work as well as no blinkers/hazard , no horns (there actually missing) and wire harness for horns is all busted up. vehicle also had remote start and alarm whitch i was told had been removed but the siren beeps everytime i shut truck off. i still havent dissconected battery. other accesories include 2 guages trans temp and pyrometer, brake booster, plow, strobes, and he changed the radio. i do see a couple wires near fuse box under hood not connected i believe they were to be grounded but not sure, i put ground from power probe on em and nothin changed . there are no fuses blown on inside panel gonna fix some of the wires so i can actually get into under hood panel. ill keep u guys updated. anyone happen to have wiring diagram link for this truck 97 2500 v10. thanks

Just to clarify - dd you disconnect the connector as referenced, and take it for a drive, shifting from first through drive manually with the column shifter? Did it properly change gears from 1st to 2nd to 3rd? And ignore the codes during this test as the PCM cannot see the pressure sensor and solenoid and otehr items, so it will set a code.

The point of this exercise is you are eliminating the electrical components and operating the transmission manually, to assure that it is able to get each gear. IF it cunctions correctly doing this, then the problem is narrowed down to the electrical components. If not, then a rebuiild is definitely required as the mechanical components are not functional.

yes i actually just did that again and it worked fine . would i still get high circut code with 8 pin disconnected. do u think its a ground issue? i trully feel like its electrical because the code pops up immediatly after reseting.

OK. If tranny shfted fine manually with the connector disconnected, it indicates that clutches and bands are working fine.

Now it is most likely electical wiring or electrical component issue. Trace out wiring, expecially the connector on side of tranny. Make sure it is clean and pins are not bent. Check cable for chaffing and bare spots. Make sure it is connected all the way and snaps into housing.

Check internal wiring if all that is good all the way back to PCM.
