I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 2WD 5.2L V8 auto
My tansmission is dieing on me. I have been told that I can use one from a Dodge Ram van????? Is this true? I believe ( could be wrong) I have a 46RH???? Help please?

Close, you have a 46RE. 46RH trannies were stopped in 1996 or so, and replaced with 46REs. However, not all year 46RE are the same, as the wiring was changed periodically. Your best bet is to find a 46RE from a 5.2L or 5.9L V8 Dodge vehicle, preferably Dakota/Ram/Van, from the 2001 model year.

Or rebuild the one you have, including upgrading a number of hard parts, and throwing in a shift kit as well.

It's an auto trans. There are many rituals you must go thru, to appease the gods of torque, motion, and physics.

It's an exercise, no doubt about it. Several members here have rebuilt theirs though, and they had never done an auto trans before. Factory service manual has a good procedure for it, plus there are write-ups, with PICS!! available on the web as well.
