if its coming from near the thermostat you should check the coolant temp sensor in the intake. mine was leaking around the plastic electrical connector on the top of the sensor
It could also be the hose.
When I had my plenum replaced, the hose was rotten and tore apart when it was removed from the t-stat.
Will check but it was in pretty good shape when I took it off and reinstalled it.

That I will do for sure, hadnt even thought of that! Just waitin on my haynes manual before I attemp anything.

You do know that you can download a free 2001 service manual from the FAQ/DIY section right? You should have both anyway, because one has some info or pics that the other one doesn't .
so you just used a gasket between the thermostat housing and the intake? no type of sealer? that may be were your problem is. i know i have never been able to get a good seal with just a thermostat gasket. they always seem to leak even if it is just a tiny bit. i started using rtv gasket maker stuff. haven't had a problem yet.
