It might work. It depends on what year the trans is that your friend gave you. If they are the same year IIRC all youll need to do is use your torque converter. There might be something else but Im not sure.

For starters we need to know the year of the trans though. Then we can go from there.

Nope, won't work.
94-95 the overdrive is controlled hydraulically, 96+ transmissions are control electronically.

That I do not know.
You're going to have to wait until someone more knowledgeable in that area shows up.

Welcome to DF, btw.

Check the connectors on the side of the trans. Do they look the same. I hear that 96 was a mid-year change so you may get lucky.

The key to modifying to change will be VB compatibility. If the VB from one will swap into the other, then it should work. But I have not compared the VBs to each other and do not know if they are interchangeable or not. If it was me, I would be doing such comparison. But I can't afford to go buy an older VB to compare (if someone wanted to ship one, I would gladly do such comparison....)

(on another note, dang computer updated itself to newer IE, and spell check works here automatically! and annoying Caddy ads are not showing!)

I think the RE has 8 pins on connector, and RH has fewer (can't remember if it is 4 or 6).
