46rh to 46re
How difficult would it be to convert 46 hydraulically controller transmission to a 46 electronically controller one?
I have a Dr Evil 46rh and would like to put it in newer (electronically) controlled setup.

If it is going into a newer OBDII truck, it might work with change of VB. To verify you could check on www.wittrans.com and see the part numbers for the case, shafts, clutch packs, etc. it would be an interesting project!
Just a couple questions. Who makes an aftermarket trans controller for a 46rh? (I haven't been able to locate one, but haven't searched in a few years) And why do you need a manual trans PCM with it? I only ask because I want to put a manual valve body in my 46rh and haven't seen any need to have to change the PCM. 1-2-3 is controlled hydraulically and I figured a simple switch for the O/D solenoid and TCC solenoid would work if it even ever got going that fast to need it.

Use a manual trans PCM to avoid having your CEL on constantly with trans codes for sensors and such that simply aren't there. No way to spoof the computer into thinking they are.
Not sure if anyone makes a controller for it..... though, might be able to adapt something from a 4L60..... basically the same idea.

i was just thinking... since he has a 94, which is 46RH, which is all hydraulic and not electronic, and he's OBD I, his truck won't have any expectations about transmission sensors and solenoids. except temp sensor maybe...
i don't think he'd get any CEL's.
but i still wouldn't try to put in an RE. just have an RH built up and be done with it.

Except in an earlier post he said it is OBDII - and that wasn't adopted until 96. So I am not sure what it is going into.
