Default Delete trans lines from radiator?

Hey guys, I've searched the forums high & low and haven't seen anybody talking about simplifying the auto trans cooling system, but I would love to remove the trans lines from the radiator. Is there an easy way to just run the pressure line from the trans straight to a cooler and then a return line from the cooler back to the trans and eliminate main engine radiator from the process???

Thanks.

Cut the the steel lines, and run hose directly to the cooler.

x2. Just make sure you use the proper type of hose.

All of the above is good... I've got a good cooler too if you need one.

Thanks for the info guys. jockey, what kind of cooler do you have?

Do you guys just hose clamp the hose to the cut steel lines? I would love to get rid of all my leaking quick disconnects....

biker250 I'll PM you about the cooler. As far as the lines clamping the hose onto it will be fine. I've done it and had no problems.

yes. cut the steel lines with a tubing cutter for a clean cut. use transmission hose and double clamp it since it doesn't have any barbs.

if you don't buy biker's cooler and want a super-duper cooler and can afford it, get the Tru-Cool 4739-1 LPD47391 40,000 GVW rating, 45,000 BTU.

its on the last page (round 3) of this thread.

One reason it run's through the radiator, is so the tranny get's up to optimum temp. Too cold and it will not shift to OD (as does too hot). The tranny need's to be a certain temp to operate correctly all around. Depending on where you live, there is such a thing as too cold and too big of an aftermarket cooler. Kind of like too cold of a thermostat.
