Unscrew the front 02 sensor from the pipe, this will allow exhaust to vent freely, thereby testing to see if your cat is clogged up.

Ok I will try that. I just checked compression in all cylinders. All were at 145 psi.

Also spark plugs were soaked with fuel and plugs sparked while cranking engine over.

Try stomping the pedal to the floor, and holding it there while cranking.

Tried stomping it to the floor and pumping it. It kept acting like it wanted to start but it never did.

I disconnected the PCV valve from intake manifold and hooked up a vacuum gauge. I tried cranking the truck but when it would not start it only had zero vacuum every now and then when it would try to start the vacuum would immediately drop to 5 inches mercury. I could not tell which was occurring first either the vacuum or the starting but the two seem related and maybe causing the other.

I woke up this morning and watching the vacuum gauge the truck fired right up but was skipping a little and vacuum was at 30 cm of mercury. It spit and sputtered a little and then all of a sudden smoothed out perfect at the same time the vacuum went to 40 cm mercury.

Ok well I am almost embarrassed to say but i think it has just been flooding this whole time. It would not start so we decided to pull the fuel pump relay and crank on the engine awhile. We then reinstalled the relay and it started right up.

We tried the wide open throttle while cranking but maybe we didn't hold the throttle down long enough. We were holding it down for maybe 20 seconds but next time i will try a little longer. I'm guessing now that we may just have an injector or two leaking down.

I think I am going to go get some used injectors from junk yard today and try but first I would live to know how to get a strong blue spark. I put a new coil, cap, rotor wires, and plugs but its still just a weak looking yellow spark. Should I buy an aftermarket coil Lil MSD or something?

I would be starting to wonder if the coil isn't getting full voltage.

Ok just tested it and while cranking coil is getting 5 to 7 volts. And as soon as I stop cranking for a split second it reads 11+ volts after I let off the key and engine is still spinning.

Weird.
I looked in the 01 FSM and couldn't find anything on what you're having a problem with. The only thing I could think of would be MAYBE a bad ASD relay.
