My '97 5.9L has almost 217,000 miles on it and runs STRONG. Shoot, 150k is nothing. And, where is the damage on the wrecked truck? There could be concealed damage to the engine from the wreck you may not see, does the engine run as it sits?

It was hit in the bedside and bent the frame and tore up the rearend is what the guy told me ! He said with a battery it would run ?

well I would get a batttery and try her out, I mean if it's a good deal, and the engine is sound, go for it. I unserstand budget constraints, so if this is the only option you really have, go for it! ...but again, the PCM may not be compatable like others have said, that part I really don't know about! GL

Swap the intake manifolds, and the smaller engine will hook right up. It will run rich in open loop, but, aside from that, shouldn't be a problem.
