p0505 again!
I have a 99 ram that for the last three years I have been trying to return it to its former glory but am having the same problem over and over. Got the p0505 code; we all know its the idle air control valve, so I replace it, it stays on or comes back on if I get the code reset. The dealership tried to tell me its because i buy the $40 advance auto iac and not the $120 dodge part. I think its bull but I do know I have put at least 6-10 new ones on it in the last 3 years and I cant deal with it any longer. Please if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them. Today I tried to find the other end of the wire harness but ran out of room, im not wanting to disconnect the entire harness but will if needs be.

As for what the dealer said, have you actually used a Mopar IAC? Because the auto parts store sensors and what not don't always play nice.

The FAQ/DIY section is right above this page, and the manuals are on the first page in that section.
I have not tried it yet, dont ask me why, i have spent that and more buying elcheapo parts, i just cant see how it makes that big of difference. plus if I do and its still not fixed...my wife will kill me lol

Please disconnect the negative battery cable next time you change that sensor, or any sensor for that matter. That goes for cleaning any sensor also. This way the PCM will reset while you do the work, and learn the new values after you reconnect and start it, and drive it.
