Oh, wait to you guys see the #8 plug, horrible. #6 wasn't as bad as #8, still bad tho. The #4 and #2 were just white and ashy.

For some reason pics didn't email to myself so I could upload them so I will post them 2morrow. Off to bed, up @4:30am
Oh fun.

Sounds like you need a plenum and cat too. Got your work cut out for you there.

Good luck.

Pull the lifters and take those apart to clean, it's easy and pull the rockers and push rods so you can really clean things up and you'll need to clean off your oil pick up screen.

thanks, i'll need it.

yeah I have the upper 1/2 gasket set, just a cheap dorman set from rockauto. I wasn't sure if I was gonna keep the truck when I bought the set, so I went with the cheapest. i'll just make sure I take my time, clean real good and make sure I get a good seal. i'll be using ultra copper rtv.

and im 99% sure the cat is gutted on this. not 100% tho. I see the cut/weld marks (not a professional weld from factory).

I don't doubt its easy, just not gonna happen right now. maybe in a few months when I pull covers off again to check on things and repeat cleaning if needed. there is just so much that needs done right now (on other trucks too) so its just getting a good cleaning and a few oil changes mixed with atf. then a seafoam treatment after the second oil change, then a full tune up, plugs/wires ect.. I know the dizzy cap is new and prob the rotor button as well so those will get skipped.

oh yeah its getting a good seafoam treatment, 2 if needed then watch the smoke roll.. love watching the smoke show lol.

and thanks man, its a good ole truck just needs someone like me to finally take care of it (if I end up keeping it that is). until then, blood sweat and cuss words!!!

pics coming in next post.

honestly I been asking myself that since Saturday. and the things that get me is the truck actually drove 1/2 way decent, no misfires unless what im feeling between 50-60mph isn't the TC unlocking but actually a misfire..

other then oil consumption and bad gas mileage and loss of power at times (intake/plenum which I knew) the truck gave no signs of these problems... tough truck I guess. oh, I do remember I noticed the covers were hotter then normal when I was messing around one day, guess I know why the extra heat was there.

If you like smoke shows your
gonna have the ultimate when you
Seafoam! You might want to alert
the local Fire Dept before they show
up. I can't believe it ran.

little update. been working on the truck the last few days here and there when I got time. so far I got both the valve covers cleaned and torqued down. dropped the oil pan and was happy to find it not looking too too bad. today I ripped the intake off (pics still need uploaded), another mess... I hope the time/work im putting into this cleaning helps. I will be going back in it within the first 1-2k miles to check on condition and clean again if needed. im sure there is some hidden crap that will get dislodged..

well enough blabbing, pic time. i'll post the intake pics when I get them uploaded.
