i got the one wire,where would the other one be located

The temp. sensors are located on each side of the thermostat.

on my 01 which the 98 motor was in only needed the one wire sensor

That may be the case, but, it's not in the 01 anymore. 96 uses two. You need to either forgo the gauge in the dash, or come up with a place to put the second one. Otherwise, it will never run right. Should be a two-wire pigtail toward the drivers side of the thermostat housing for the second sensor.

ok thanks i believe i have a 97 kegger laying around my shop ill check it out thanks guys appreciate the help

That's an option. Not sure which is easier though, swapping the intake, (again?) or drilling and tapping the one that is on there.

Let the PCM know what engine temp actually is, and it will more'n likely run MUCH better.

been wanting to do kegger mod anyway now i have a reason to thanks again hopefully it has the second temperature sensor

It will have both holes at least, I would be sorely tempted to replace the one for the PCM though. (two wire)

how do you mean,i was thinking if i put the 97 kegger on it everything would be done properly

except gas gauge ill probably need to change sending unit for that
