How many miles on your truck...?
#14
No idea.....LOL
It's a sum of parts, my Ram gets my Dakota's hand me downs if they aren't too much. I use the Ram to tow the Dakota, so low end is a gotta have and since I don't want to tow with the OD on I have 3.55 gears, low end has to come from the motor.
If you pan on doing anything, I'd at least get NEW stock valve springs, the problem is they are beehive and no one makes a simple drop in replacement...You have to get new springs and matching retainers or get some EQ heads already built with new springs ...Maybe someone will chime in on after market Magnum heads...I have Eddys on the Dakota and a couple pair of Magnum RT heads so I don't pay attention to heads...I don't need anymore.

Just keep in mind it's a Magnum motor not a Hemi. These motors come under powered from the factory, only 230hp, add into the mix your mileage and 4x4 drive train, now you're seeing more like 200hp at the wheels. Adding gears, heads, cam, intake, TB, tuning, roller rockers, rough guess would put you at 250 to 280hp. You still want more hp? how bout boring out and stroking to 408 or even 426... we're talking serious time and money.

comp cams 20-745-9 is the cam i have. its an extremely torquey cam. i also have this cam pair with the harland sharp 1.7 non-adjustable roller rockers.
i have stock sized stainless one piece valves, with some minimal porting.
50mm throttle body, mopar m1 intake manifold, and longtube headers going out to a 3" single exhaust.
3.55 gears, and 33's this truck MOVES!

i assume after market parts are meant for a direct replacement with out screwing up the rocker geometry. you know how that goes, dont count on it!
i have the 20-745-9 cam also! EQ heads, and hughes mini shaft 1555 alu roller rockers. from what i know about setting the magnums up- the stock p-rods are 6:92 long. when i measured for 1 piece rods, i expected to be way shorter than stock! i came up with 6:90 and had plenty of adjustment on the roller rockers. it sometimes depends on the head gasket squish also! lots of factors depend on the p-rod length.
