Did you check your valve train geometry and found they would work or just toss them in?

i had plenty of help from merc, and he assured me they would be fine, and i had zero play between the rockers, and lifters.

theyre should be spring play in the lifter, correct? cause thats all there is.

That's not valve train geometry, that's preload. To check valve train geometry you mark the top of the valve stem with a black marker, install the rocker and torque it down, (or adjust it) rotate the engine a by hand a couple revolutions, pull the rocker and verify the roller tip of the rocker is centered over the valve stem. Really critical on non adj rockers.

Depends on how you built it. If you build it as a TRUCK engine, yep. Drive it every day. (buy stock in an oil company though.....) if you build a drag race engine, then, no.... it won't be streetable.

Keep in mind, building the 408 is NOT an inexpensive endeavor....

how do you like your setup so far?
my cam is real torquey! thumps a little bit. noticeable idle. plus i added solid engine mounts. rock rattle and roll!
how do i like it? maybe too much for the 46re. i had it freshened up with 47re guts 5yrs ago. stock stall tq converter. no shift kit. cam just beats it up now. i need to loosen up the tq, maybe 2400 stall. a patc order is in the near future.
my dyno came up with 275hp & 300tq at 4700rpm, thats after 28% drive train loss with 285 tires and 3:92 gears. NOT BAD!
what i dont like about my set up? hughes mini shaft 1555 rockers are stout and strong but, the system has some side to side lash, NOISEY rockers. the extreme series cam from comp has an aggressive lobe ramp angle and the lifters really work hard. i'm currently looking for a better lifter again. had mopars, johnson hylift, and now crowers. maybe rhodes variable lifters next?
