A/C Problem... high pressure line cold but no a/c in cab
I Had the a/c fixed a couple years back and it worked perfect until about 2 weeks ago. It was freezing cold and then the next day nothing. I tried it on max a/c etc etc and still nothing. I also tried filling it with the do DIY deals you get at Walmart.
Pressure says 50psi on the guage when the a/c clutch disengages otherwise it goes down....wayyyy down. I didnt want to overfill it so I stopped.
Strange thing to me is my high pressure line is nice and cold but low pressure line is the ambient temp.
Any help on this it would be great.

Read the chart on the side of the can. Look at what pressure should be at current ambient temp. Read pressure on gauge while compressor is running...... fill so that pressure is at spec on chart.
If you lost that much refrigerant overnight, you have a leak somewhere.

Ahhhh didnt know the reading was when the compressor was running. I thought it was when it wasnt so pressure read 50psi and I didnt want to overfill it. Ill add more today and see what happens.
Thanks

Yes, you jumper the low side switch (green plug located on top of the accumulator). Don't jumper for too long, bad things can happen and people can get hurt.
2 cans of the a/c stuff and shes working great. It blows pretty damn cold now. We'll see how long it lasts.
thanks all for the help.
now I have a broken brake line to attend to........and Ive never messed with a brake line ever. it should be interesting.

Broken hard brake lines on these trucks are pretty common, especially the long rear line. If you have to drive the truck ASAP, cut out the rotten section of line and install a new piece to get you going. If you can have the truck down for a bit, best to install all new brake lines, which can be purchased pre-bent from a few places..
