Default OIl Filter leaking

So my truck wasn't leaking until I changed the oil. It seems like its coming out of the oil filter itself. Its tight, and went on smooth, just cant figure out why it would start. This is my second one since it started happening. The first was a wixx oil filter. Anyone might know why?

Welcome to DF. Please post tech questions in the tech section. Not here in the FAQ/DIY section. Thanks I'll move it for you.

Sounds like the gasket (o-ring) from the old filter stuck to the filter adapter and you now have a condition of it having been "double gasketed". If you have the old filter, verify the gasket it still on it.

+1, that happens when people don't put a light film of fresh oil on the o-ring when doing an oil change.

+1 on the double gasketing. Pull the filter off and see if you have either 1.) the gasket from the previous filter is stuck to the mating surface or 2.) stuck to the gasket of the new filter

did you happen to overtighten and crush your new filter?

^^^Agreed on all. Filter only needs 1/4 to 1/2 turn past snug. And definitely oil the new gasket before it goes on.
