+1 with what Stewie01 has stated. Don't hesitate to go back to the junkyard you dealt with and either obtain a 46RH 2WD transmission or a refund. Hopefully, you have a Smartphone, so that you can show them the pictures you have posted here. The junkyard you are dealing with should make you whole, otherwise, they are not reputable and should be reported to the BBB if they can't perform a simple exchange or refund.

No point really. Any 46RH should bolt up, and work. (2 wheel drive trans, at any rate.) Just make sure it is indeed a 46RH. RE won't work, 42, and 44 will, but, they are weaker than the already weak 46. 47 and 48 won't even bolt up. Bellhousing bolt pattern is different.

My plan is to go back to the junkyard and see if they have a 46RH. If they do, I'll give them the one they gave me and get the 46RH, then we should be good. If they do not have a 46RH, then I will be asking for my money back since they gave me the incorrect product.

Here's an update:

I went back to the junkyard and, sure enough, they did have a proper replacement transmission. My dad and I will be spending this weekend finishing up the job. Hopefully it works. After all this effort and trouble and expense, I really hope it runs right. I'll try and take some pictures to help out anyone else who my do their own replacement in the future.

BTW, I still have the old transmission that we removed from the truck (the junkyard did not seem to demanding about an exchange of the old one---especially since they sold me the incorrect transmission in the first place). So I am considering what to do with the old one. If I sell it, how much can I get for it? It is not functioning properly, but I figure a professional transmission mechanic could use it to rebuild and re-sell. Any idea what its worth? I'm also considering just keeping it and trying to rebuild it myself. I know, I know---this will be one heck of a job. But as much as I've learned about transmissions in the course of this experience, I figure it may be worth a shot. Heck, if I did successfully rebuild it, I could always keep it for a possible future replacement!

I typically get rid of transmissions like that by listing them on my local craigslist as a rebuildable core. I usually sell them between $50 - $100.
