Right lube for Differentials in a 2500
Hello, Been searching for awhile but haven't found a match. I have a 2001 2500 with a Dana m60 front end and a Dana m70 with Anti spin rear.
I was wandering what gear lube to use, I will be plowing and towing with it so I plan I using 75w-140 lube in rear but should I use it in the front also? Do I need to add anything to the lube (friction reducer, etc.)to both or just rear? Also what is Anti spin, from my search it is limited slip with clutches. When I turn a sharp corner on pavement it feels like my old hot rods with possi. What brand does everyone recommend for a synthetic lube? I have owned a few Dodge trucks but never a 2500 so I'm still learning. Thanks for the help

You will need friction modifier for the rear, and straight for the front. do NOT use synthetic in the front axle, and DO use synthetic in the back. Make sure you use GL5, most any GL5 will work, I prefer Castrol or NAPA Performance.
Anti spin performs the same thing as limited slip.
Now TracLok is a different thing, it uses brakes, but I am not aware of Dodge trucks in this time being equipped with that.

In my '96 Ram 2500 4x4 with Dana 60s front and rear, I use 80W90 gear oil that's suitable for rears with limited slip units. In the rear, since I installed a new TracLoc unit, I also add in a tube of friction modifier, too. This will eliminate the grabbing and wheel hop you experience when making a turn.

Thanks for the reply, I would like to have synthetic in both if possible. I will check if it has the additive but I think I will pick up some extra additive just in case. I was wandering if cleaning out the diffs with brake cleaner when I change the fluid would hurt the clutches at all. I use brake cleaner to clean everything seems to work great and drys fast.. any pros or cons?
Thanks again you guys Rock
