What did you have in mind for your truck? Every converter has a stall speed. (speed at which it stops multiplying torque) For a truck, something in the 1400-1700 range is where you want it.... Unless you want to drag race with it....

Isn't the stock stall speed for a 4x4 1800? That's what I was told when I had mine rebuilt.

That's what I've been finding as well. Why not go a bit lower for 4x4? Like 1500 or so...

Mine locks at exactly 45 in 3rd, never bothered to look at the tach. Think I will today just out of curiosity.

Well PATC transmissions seems to think my truck is a racecar, so I have a slightly higher stall speed in my MegaViper....

They say that an 1800 stall is good for "most 4x4" trucks.

Bullspit. I want a 15 or 1600.

You don't want to go too low though. Diesels can get down around 1200, or that neighborhood, but, gas engines don't really start producing good torque till a bit higher.

I think my current stall is like 1600. Hit the gas and it starts moving pretty well under little throttle.
