Would give you about 2" of additional height, and yes, it would make the ride MUCH stiffer.
Now, you *could* install the 3/4 ton axles, and retain the 1/2 ton springs, that would require changing the spring perches on the rear axle. (heavier trucks have 3" wide springs, as opposed to the 2.5 inch on the lighter fellers.) That would give you the softer ride, but, not sure how well it would control the axles.
I think merc225hp did this conversion, and kept the half-ton rear springs, hopefully, he will see this, and chime in.

I know I read a while back that one of the guys on here got a donor wrecked 3/4 ton and took the diffs and suspension off and fitted it to the 1/2 ton he had and got a few inches of lift. In my opinion if your gonna do the rear for 3/4 ton leafs why not change the front(otherwise that's gonna be one hell of a rake from front to back)?

I am around lol.
A few inches of lift no more like 2". I have Skyjacker 2500 V8 gas coils in the front and skyjacker 1500 leafs in the back. I think my new leafs have a higher rating than the stock 2500 leafs, but I am still trying to find the numbers on that, so not a 100% sure at this time. I have about 6 months running this set up and I love it. One day I hope to do a DIY on this swap. If you want to use the 2500 leafs have a look in Hambones thread as this is the route he choose to take.
