3.55 to 4.10
I have a 1998 Ram 1500 5.2L 4X4 285/75/16 with 3.55 gears. I want to switch it out to 4.10 gears. I have searched the forums and can't seem to find the information I need. When I call the salvage yards they tell me that 4.10s were not offered but I see everyone gets them so one of my questions is what do I need to tell them to look for or what other options are out there? What years were they offered and what models. Also Can I just replace the carrier as a whole or do I need to switch out parts in my carrier. I don't want to replace the axle as a whole if at all possible (Depending on Price) I am comfortable doing all this one my own too so paying for labor isn't in the picture just parts. Thanks for your guys help in advance gotta love forums!!

And they're expensive from Mopar. The aftermarket gears are just as good as OEM, however.
2500 axles will need some special treatment, not just drop in.

Yukon is the main brand that comes to mind. I'm sure there are others, but it's late. lol
I would think that since you're pulling the entire thing out, everything would have to be reset. Unless you've done it before on other axles, it is a process best left to a qualified off road shop.
There are no upgrades for the clutch packs on the Dodge posis that I know up. The only option is either to rebuild it or replace it with a better LSD while you're in there.
