It's funny that back when I was looking for articles on the Air Gap and M1 intakes everything I read at the time said I would lose more low end with the M1 over the Air Gap. Now this was 3 years ago so at the time I just went a head and got the Air Gap. I have finally gotten around to installing the intake but when I did mine I also spent a little more money and got steel braided fuel lines & custom fuel rails from HiPoTek.
Yes it cost me another $500 for all this fancy stuff but it made the install 100% easier.

Grrrr I want that! Haha honestly I hadn't planned on doing the airgap so soon (Ive been wanting to buy another car so that my truck is no longer the daily driver) but the rate at which I was losing oil alarmed me and I didn't want the hassle of having to replace tons of other parts as a result. If I had been able to wait, I likely would have done the fuel rail upgrades along with some better (4-hole) injectors.

@ merc,

I appreciate all the input, when I go to change out the fuel injectors, I'll look into why that one side looks like it's a little tilted back. Might just be the way the brackets are on the intake or something. I'll see if maybe I cant adjust them a little when I put different injectors on. Next thing up for me is headers, hi flow cat, and rocker arms.

I think thats all it is, those little brackets need some tweek'n. Just a reminder we use 49 psi for the injectors, most injectors flow rates are not based on 49 psi so make sure you use a good converter/calc to figure out the flowrate right.

This is the one I use http://users.erols.com/srweiss/calcpchg.htm

Stock injectors are Siemens 53030778 (EV1) 21.9lb/hr@43.5 PSI (23.2@49psi) 12ohm coil.

The injectors I used are Bosch 0280155784 (EV6) 22.3lb/hr@43.5psi (23.7@49psi) 12ohm coil.
Got them from MotorMan.

So far, all seems fine.

The other alternative are the injectors used on the 2.4L Neon, and commonly used as upgrades on Jeeps.
Bosch 0280155703 (EV1) 23lb/hr@43.5 PSI (24.4@49psi) 12ohm coil.

The latter should be fine on a 5.9L, but could be a bit much for a 5.2L.

[Flow rates stated are taken as a consensus of several online listings]

And here's a video comparing the 703 (4 hole) with the stock Jeep (1 hole) injector (the same as our stock injector).

The idea behind the pencil beam injector..... (from what I have read) is: Gas is sprayed at the back of the intake valve shortly BEFORE it opens, and the gas is supposed to be vaporized by the hot valve before actually entering the cylinder..... I think this is the main reason why it is suggested to slightly alter fuel sync when installing them. (so the injector sprays as the valve is actually opening....)

I would love to see some comparisons (dyno chart, fuel economy) on the four hole, vs. the stock units, with that being the ONLY change. Haven't found one yet.

Yep, I think Drewa had some great posts on injector info, don't see him post much anymore. I went with the cc's over lbs when it came time to pick my new injectors cc's is what matters in the long run.

I agree that this is a very well done write up. Congrats on the move away from the Keg-o-killer! I had to highlight the funny part in red below.

I also have the SCT 93 octane tune on the truck and it seems to respond well to that. I'll keep this thread updated with any changes/problems I have. So far, there have been no check engine lights and no rough idling. I'll keep you all posted on any fuel mileage/oil consumption improvements. Feel free to comment and ask me any questions....take it easy fellas.

I noticed a difference in experience about torque between you guys here. Spillage, I also think that is a bit odd about the ~100 rpm drop with the efans kicking on. I don't experience that with mine.

As a feel for the bottom end torque loss, previously the T-fan load would not alter the RPM, but now it will drop ~100rpm (at idle) when they turn on.

Let's see now, CSDavies is an ORE. Spillage running 3.55 gears? I am missing that and just observing differences.

lbs is lbs/hr, and cc is cc/min, both are volume delivered over time at a specific supply pressure... one an imperial designation, one is metric.

Can you expand on your comment please?
