1999 Dodge Ram 1500 won't start
Carb cleaner doesn't burn as well as it used to any more. Need 'real' starting fluid. (ether)
Are your plugs still getting wet? Check the connectors at the coolant temp sensors. Make sure the two wire feller is plugged in good, and the connection is clean, and tight. (I suspect a bad sensor here..... tends to flood the motor.)
Does your oil stink like gas?

Well from everything you described it sounds like the ECT sensor and if it was anything like mine you can easily tell the sensor is broken. It's only about 15 bucks for it if it were me I'd go ahead and pick one up and pop it in.
I am leaving now to the auto parts store to get a ECT sensor and put it in. My oil does stink like gas, does that mean the ECT is bad and do I need to change the oil before I drive it much? Or will the oil just burn out?
How does the oil feel? If it doesn't feel like you think oil should, change it. Otherwise, the gas will boil out once the engine gets up to temp anyway. An oil change is cheaper than bearings though..... something to keep in mind.
Alright, I have found the Intake Manifold Air Temperature Sensor. I don't know if this is the same thing as the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor. Because if it is not, I can not find it anywhere on my engine. I purchased an ECT from autozone, but it is smaller and different than the part I found. Locating this piece which I thought I had found would be helpful.
ECT is going to be screwed into the coolant passage, near the thermostat. (yeah, cleverly buried behind the alt, or a/c compressor)
What year is your truck? It makes a difference.
Ok, read the thread title......
99. You only have one ECT. Two wire, on the front of the intake manifold, near the passenger head.

Haha. I'm about to hit myself in the head with a wrench. I pulled the alternator out and replaced the ect and reconnected the wire and put everything back together. It is still chugging and wanting to start. But it won't fire. Any more clues?
Just throwing this out, could the timing be messed up? Don't know how easy it is for one of these to jump a tooth. I had an old chrysler cordoba do that on me once. Hsd good spark and all, would turn over and act like it wanted to start, but never would cause timing chain had jumped. Just a thought since nothing else has worked yet.
