Default Removing 2nd Gen Bumper with hand tools

Any advice for removing a 2nd gen bumper with hand tools? I removed mine in the driveway with air tools as I couldn't get enough room to turn a ratchet on the nuts from the inside of the bumper. I got the impact wrench in there and got them off, but it was a pain.

I'm going to try to go get another bumper from a pick a part junkyard. I won't have access to my air tools in the middle of the field so will have to do it by hand. Any tips? I'm not sure how I'm going to do this since I couldn't get the ratchet to turn at all on the nuts before since it was soo tight in there.

well you might try taking a torch and just heat them up a little and they will come loose easier, or just cut the head off and get different bolts, or use a breaker bar. if u can at least get the socket and ratchet on there use a cheater bar.

i think when i did mine i came at them on the opposite side. put the ratchet on the nut side with a deep socket, and a wrench on the head.

i removed my front and rear bumper with hand tools. 18mm socket, deep and shallow, ratchet, extension, and a long 1/2 inch drive pull bar. and lots of pb-blaster penetrating oil.

Assorted open ends, ratchets, extensions, sockets, etc.

I cut the bolts on mine when I removed the front bumper.

Have never removed the rear.

Are you referring to the front or the rear bumper?

I pulled a rear bumper at a salvage yard a while back and used hand tools without an issue. Just took a lot of PB Blaster, patience and internal fortitude to get the job done...

Sorry I should have clarified. I was talking about the front bumper. When I took mine off I removed it from the frame with the brackets still attached to the bumper and then I took them off after the bumper was off. I still couldn't get a ratchet to turn on the bolts holding it to the frame as inside the bumper it just didn't seem to have much room. I somehow wedged the impact wrench in there and got them off with that. I'm thinking maybe I can do it with a ratchet and breaker bar if I have to though which is what I'm hoping.
