Exclamation will a 2000 durango trans fit my ram?

i have a 97 ram sst and my trans is slipping really bad. I want to have my trans sent out to be rebuilt but i cant afford for the truck to be down. I have a 2000 durango trans sitting in my basement from a truck i parted. Both trucks are 2wd will the durango unit fit in the ram with slight modification


2000 durango slt 2wd with a 5.2

into

1997 ram 1500 ss/t 2wd 5.9??

I'm not sure what ss/t means. The Durango will be 44re, and won't last long behind your 5.9 but should bolt up. I don't know what year they switched from the 46rh to 46re, 97 seems right around there. Somebody who knows for sure will tell us. If it's hydraulic, your setup won't like trying to control the electronics on the Durango tranny.

I know they will bolt up because it's the other way on mine. I have a 5.2 bolted to the 46re.

the unit in my truck now is the 46 re i know its a little weaker and wont hold much pressure but i just need something for a few weeks due to the fact my truck is my only daily driver

Hmm. Well there is a better chance since they are both electronic, but there are still a few years difference where something may have changed.

The 5.9 Durango had a 46 but the 5.2 had that 44 which won't work with your ram.

Im not sure about this, but I am usually wrong. Why wont it work? Im pretty sure it will physically bolt up at least.

I just sold my ram and bought a 2000 rangoit does have the same tranny , im sure the 4.7 and 5.2 have something else. I got the build sheet for my truck.
