Default stoped running

I have a 98 ram 1500 4x4 5 spd. 318 /5.2 engine 240000 miles was running great went to work shut it off then restarted , then just died tried to re- start now just turns over and sorta trys to start,has spark to plugs(new) cap and rotor(new)can smell raw gas thinking timeing chain but no backfire thru manifold. any ideas please.Thanks Lee

Check fuel pressure with a gauge .

Ok I have 45psi for fuel pressure any other thoughts or am I still going to the timing chain?

Got spark and fuel, next, I would unscrew the precat o2 sensor from the pipe and see if it starts.

Are you getting injector pulse? Should be able to pick up a noid light at your local parts store.

Getting injector pulse.It backfired once then never again,got spark thru plugs im workin outside by my self can see spark but can't tell if it is blue also have new coil on it but did not change wires.going nuts with this (some times I really love my diesel)
