'99 2500 5.9 no heat

Default '99 2500 5.9 no heat

1999 2500 5.9 V8. Change termastat and all hose ,new antifreeze still no engine heat 160 degrees Why won't engine temp get to 195. Need help

Hi Green,

You can have a bad "new" thermostat. What temp did you get? OEM is 195.

Im having the same problem. I now have have a 190° thermostat in it, Flushed radiator and heater core and new hoses and coolant. And this is my third thermostat in 8 months. Still won't get to temptemp.

Stay away from import thermostats. Go get an American made from Merles. O rielly and autozone sell cheap thermostats.

Backflush the heater core. Take off both lines, when you are done flushing, make sure the heater core is full. (fill from the longer hose, till water starts running out shorter hose. try not to let any out when you hook the hoses back up.) Worked great for me.

Another option would be to cut the hose that goes back to the water pump (drivers side hose) at the highest point you can reach. (which, unfortunately, is under the cowl, behind the intake....) and install one of the flush T fittings with the cap. Start the engine, and unscrew the cap a bit to let the air get pushed out. Tighten the cap back up when no more air is coming out, and test your heat.
