95 2500 Wiper Short need advise
Ok first i just joined the forum an just got my first cummins. I just got a 95 ram 2500 Cummins and the wipers an AC compressor wont work so i check the fuse an changed it. as soon as i turn the key it blows the fuse with the wipers off an the AC off. Any advise would be great.
Which fuse is blowing?
You can download the 95 service manual from the service manual thread in the faq section here. Has wiring diagrams in it... I am not seeing any commonalities in the two circuits just offhand......

Grab a fistful of the right size fuses.
Unplug the connector at the wiper motor. Install new fuse. Turn on Ignition. If it still blows.... Take the covers off the steering column, unplug the multifunction switch. Replace fuse, turn ignition on. if it still blows, you have a wiring problem between the fuse, and the switch. If either component being unplugged makes it STOP blowing fuses, replace that component.
If you have tilt wheel, the mere act of moving the steering wheel likes to pull the wires out of the various connectors, and you get the potential for non-working components, and shorts...... Might not be a bad idea to check for that first.
