Drivers rear wheel came off on the highway..
Also, newly discovered problem.
I put the transfer case in neutral and went to put the transmission in park, it started grinding almost. It was like when you try to put a manual in gear without pressing the clutch only not as severe feeling/sounding.
Any ideas ?

Because everything in the trans can spin with no load on the other end. Just shut off the engine, put the trans in park.
Keep in mind, with the t-case in neutral, the trans will NOT keep the truck in place.

Is it a big deal?
But yeah I put the tcase back in 2H afterward
I would replace all the studs and also check to see if the garage had your wheels off. If they did then they probably used just an air gun to tighten the wheel nuts and over torqued the studs and weakened them. I will not let a garage work on my vehicle if they do not use a hand torque wrench to tighten the wheel nuts. A good air gun will snap a wheel stud quite easily. We used to do it all the time when I worked at a wreckers. It was actually faster to snap them than to spin them off.
Okay got the truck back together and running! Drives good. One problem though, the brake and abs lights are on. Brakes work although they are a little more spongy than they were before. But any ideas why the lights are on...?
Does your speedo work?
If it does, spongy brakes would be a good place to start. I assume they had the brake hydraulic system open for the repairs.... if there is air in the line, or, they weren't bled properly, the combination valve will be displaced, turning on the Brake lite, and that annoys the ABS system as well.

Will do. They are a bit more spongy than they were before the wheel fell off. Should I bleed them?

Having a friend to help makes the job MUCH easier. (I have even drafted my grandkids......)
