Default Bad Valve Stem

I went to put some air in my tires today and after filling up the first tire, the valve was stuck open and just deflated the tire. So my question is, how difficult would it be to change the valve stem?

You can replace the core. If the stem is good and not too old, then go to a tire shop, grab one of those small repair kits and there should be a few in the kit, if not, ask the shop for a valve stem and take the core from that.

Other than that, you will have to break the bead, cut the old one out and replace.

Try spraying a bit of PB Blaster or penetrating oil inside the stem to see if it frees the core up. If not, core replacement would be required.

Would you need to remove the tire off the rim in order to change the valve stem?

Yes, you'll have to break the bead of the tire and rim in order to be able to cut the old one out and put a new one in.

Valve core is just threaded in there. Amazingly easy to change. (with the correct tool....) If the stem needs to be replaced, yeah, gotta break the bead, as they are installed from INSIDE the rim.

Just be glad our trucks dont have tpms! Valve stem is super easy to change, if you have a tire machine anyway... other than that... core is the next best thing.

I went ahead and popped the tire completely off the rim and I am just going to replace the valve stem as a whole. Any ideas on how to remove the valve stem in one piece or know what length I need for the replacement valve stem?

Just get a knife and cut the bottom half off. Go with whatever length the others are or whatever you feel like having in the tire.
