Default 2.5" Lift Wanna Go Higher

Hey Guys i have a 2.5'' suspension lift right now in my 97 ram 1500 5.9l i wanted to possibly put a body lift in it but was wondering how high i can go before having to extend brakelines and steering linkage. Was thinking about 3".

Thanks.

You are fine. The biggest body lift you can buy is 3 inch. I bought mine off Summit Racing and its made by Performance Accessories. It comes with a steering extension, transmission linkage extension, and front bumper extensions. Rear bumper brackets are an extra $50 i believe. As for brake lines and everything else, you're good.

So I can do up to 5" of lift without having to do brake lines pitman arm or anything other than steering and tranny extensions?

Does this apply to suspension lifts as well? I have the sport model and found the lift you bought won't fit sport so I'm thinking of replacing my 2.5" suspension lift with a 4" suspension lift.

No, it doesn't. Anything over 3" suspension lift and you start getting into things like control arms, drop pitman arm, track bar, shocks, etc.

^ Yup. If you are looking at buying a new suspension lift, it will come in a kit with everything you need. If you buy a long arm kit you will need to do some modifications to the frame. Don't quote me in this but I believe anything over a 7 inch suspension you are looking into brake lines and such.

I think they work with 7" but you cant flex without breaking a line lol.

I have a 3inch lift kit going for $150 you pay shipping.

And I have a 5inch lift on top of a 2inch bl and the brake lines are pretty tight. I can flex about 2 1/2 inches before I rip the brake line apart.

Might as well go for the body lift if you want a cheapo lifto or replace that 2.5 lift with a 5inch lift assuming you want 5inches of lift.

I sort of agree. If you only want up to 5 inches, I believe a suspension lift is the way to go. Only reason I have a body lift is because I have a total lift of 8 inches. 5 suspension 3 body. However, nice thing about a body lift is the price. If you are on a budget, nothing wrong with a body lift. Plus I like the extra room when working on the truck. :P
