Default 97 2500 tranny bolts right in 01?

I did the search and i see they both use the 46re,

Does it bolt right up or is there anthying i should be aware of?

I did a bunch of work on my 01s tranny to try and keep it alive (288k km)
  • band adjustments
  • filter (clogged so so bad)
  • oil (black and silver)
  • lucas addictive
worked much better for about a week shifted better less slippage. Than lost overdrive and fourth. Have a donor 97 with 100k km drives so smooth and shifts great but the frame is bent brakes are trashed electrical problems etc

really hoping it bolts right on, im very broke and need my truck running again for work.

cheers
adam

In 00 and/or 01 they changed a few things around inside and out with a few sensors and that they have different plugs. As far as what sensors are different I'm not sure. But I think the it's speedo governor pressure sensor and governor pressure transducer.

Yep, 97 had a speed sensor on the back of the trans/t-case(4x4). Yours doesn't use that sensor, so no big deal. It just won't be plugged in. (as there is no plug for it.)

Governor pressure sensor and solenoid are wired different, and mount slightly differently on the valve body as well. You can swipe parts from your old trans, and put them in the new one, and it will work. (I would still replace the solenoids/sensors though. bout 200 bucks worth of electronics.)

Also if you haven't done it yet, do the check valve delete also.

is there any pics or a good thread about these parts?

I have a spare worn out 01 transmission sitting in the driveway, Im going to pull it apart, Im not sure what is broken in it (on the one thats in my truck now)

IS there a way to test the electrical parts i need to swap to the 97 tranny? If i can avoid buying them that would be ideal sice i have 2 2001 transmissions.

When i get started on this i will update with pics as i go etc.

Test? Not that I am aware of, aside from installing them, and seeing what happens. Worst case, you get to go back into the pan again, and swap 'em out. (use a clean container, and then reuse the fluid.)
