hey guys, i recently ordered 315/75/16 tires for my truck. I'm looking to get basic steel 16x8 truck wheels and want the tires to stick out past the fender by 1.5-2". What would be a good backspacing to achieve this? And yes i've read up on the forum all night, haven't seemed to find a solid answer. Thanks.

 

4"-4.5" will get you there.

 

Thats what i was thinking thank you. i was worried 4" would be too much

 

Not to bring this up again but the bigger backspacing means the tire will stick out more right?


And the smaller offset means it'll stick out further? Just trying to clear some stuff up.

 

Backspacing determines how far out it sticks. Less backspacing means the tire/wheel moves outward from the axle.

Offset is just the distance from the mounting surface, to the center of the wheel. Two wheels with the same backspacing, but, different wheel width, will have different offset.

 

Alright so how would I be able to get mine out further then? I have 3.75 backspacing, 15x8 wheels. I was thinking of going 15x12 down the road.

 

Wider wheels with the same backspacing will stick out further. Keep in mind though, that you are putting additional side loads on the already inadequate hub/bearing assemblies on the front axle. That is going to shorten their lifespan accordingly.

 

Yeah, unfortunately. I just want to have that wide, beefy look when I get these bushwacker flares down the road too.


Truck's already a money pit.

 

My previous tires were 315/75/16 with basic 16x8s with a 4.5 inch backspace. They stuck out about 1-1.5 inches.
