Question Oil too high on dipstick?

Well, here's an odd one. This morning when I was getting gas I checked my fluid levels. Tranny fluid was fine and then I checked the oil and the fluid was halfway up the dipstick! I wiped it off and checked again and the oil is about a foot or more above the max fill line.

Any ideas?

On both sides of the dipstick? I had to put my dipstick in upside down for an acurate reading due to the bend in the tube

If it's been running and you check it right after the tube could be covered in oil and causing it to show on the stick. Check it cold before you start it and see what it says.

+1 on what Annihilator_X9 said.

Oil: Check when truck has been sitting at LEAST 20 minutes to allow everything to settle into the pan for an accurate reading. Also ensure you are on a level surface.

Tranny Fluid: Check When engine is WARM and RUNNING and vehicle is in NEUTRAL for an accurate reading

Did you have the engine running when you checked the oil?

Nah, just been taking care of my dad full time for a while now. Doctors, courts (for guardianship), nurses, social workers, blah blah. It's been rough and I don't get a lot of sleep.

Need to fix that. You won't be a lot of help yourself if you burn yourself out.

I'm going to apply for Medicaid for my dad again. He was denied the first time because they said his income was to high (o_O). I've taken steps to correct that issue and now I'm going to apply again. Hopefully he'll get it this time and I can get some people in here to help me.
