99 ram trans problem

Yes it will start out in first if I manually put it in. I belive it's the stock trans so around 155k on it. It seems to be starting out in first now tho after messing with it a bit but won't go past second so I'm still working on it

Also when I put in the new solenoids I noticed the fluid was very nasty and thick. Almost like mud but no metal shavings at all. I did replace the fluid and put in some Lucas stop slip

Ooops. The 'fix me in a bottle' things tend to annoy our transmissions. The methods they use to make it work 'better'..... only accelerates wear, and exacerbates existing problems. (swelling seals, clutches, etc.)

May wanna change the fluid again.... see if it helps.

Update. Just lost reverse in it while trying to put it up on rams Draining the fluid now
And it smells burnt. Just changed it a few weeks ago

Update. I junked the truck. Using it for parts. I bought a 99 2500 with a plow with only 82k miles on it. Thanks for the help guys!

Get rid of the check valve in the cooler line if nothing else. That has the advantage of being free.
