I can try later basically when the stud goes through the link I can tighten the nut down to a certain point and then the stud turns with the nut and I didn't have a way to hold the stud but I just got a lockwasher in the gap to get it tight now I can post a pic later when I get back from dinner.

Oh. You REALLY need to address that...... Even a large pair of channel locks should hold it enough to torque the nut down nice and tight, just squeeze in such a way to force the stud into the hole. (that sounds just bad......)
