Default Radio problems!!!

So my first post here on dodge forums, I have a 1996 ram 1500 5.2 auto and the radio most of the time works fine with the key in the lock position but works for 2-3 seconds anywhere else the radio has power but the speakers are not working sometimes it works flawlessly.

I had this issue with mine, it ended up being a dirty potentiometer in the radio. These are hard to get to, and I can't guarantee this is your issue. I'd start by popping the dash off and looking at the connectors on the back of the radio. The vents are directly above them and moist air from your AC or just plain outside air can't corrode the inside of the radio or oxidize connectors. Clean the connectors up with some isopropyl alcohol and put some dielectric grease in them. Or for 120 Bucks get a dash kit and a radio and wire it in. I've been through a few stock radios before I put in a pioneer radio and upgraded my speakers.. I've had many compliments on my sound quality.

I'm also thinking a bad ignition signal. Check and clean fuses as well
